Tony Esposito was one of the first goalies to employ a mask for his entire career.
This mask enabled Esposito to play his style with confidence and helped him set a rookie record of 15 shutouts in 1969/1970 playing for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Esposito later upgraded this mask by adding a cage to protect his eyes and help absorb the forces of impact.
