Montreal Mask

catalog #04
On November 1, 1959 Jacques Plante suffered a deep cut off the stick of New York Ranger, Andy Bathgate. After being stitched up, Plante refused to return to the ice unless his coach allowed him to wear this mask, which he designed himself.
Plante was a courageous pioneer who broke the way for other goalies in the NHL at a time when protective masks were considered silly.
